National Tourism Day (USA)
About the event:
National Tourism Day is celebrated in the states during National Tourism and Travel Week, which takes place every first week of May. Every year, experts from these fields come together to celebrate the value of travel for the economy, business and well-being of citizens.
History of National Tourism Day
The idea to establish a National Travel and Tourism Week was proposed by US President Ronald Reagan in 1983. This event was first celebrated in May 1984.
How to celebrate National Tourism Day
On this day, tourist sites and municipalities throughout the country hold various events and talk about themselves. Many of them make discounts on services and hold various promotions. On May 7, locals send souvenirs to friends by mail, look for new travel destinations, book tours and, if possible, give tickets or trips to loved ones.
